Letter to Dave —
… How do we lose consistency so quickly, so easily? And when does the new become old? How do we know when to stop saying “Happy New Year!”? Should we only begin to see the year as not-so-new when it hits the first of July and we’ve seen half the once-new-year fly by? Does the new become old and stale only when we see something better on the horizons? Or are we just always waiting for something to replace what we have now, who we are today?
